St. George’s: GRENADA: Can a people who engage in public sex, carnival, dirty wine, dances that are all but masturbation in name (a most provocative – position – from the song working for a position) be prudish? (Grenadians call masturbation Miss Palmer) – Most Grenadian men would deny that masturbation is known to the Spice Island cultural sexual experience.

The people on the Isle of Spice are being forced to accept that sex is “not” a taboo issue not to be discussed.  These days public service announcements encourages Grenadians to use condoms – the AIDS/HIV awareness campaign (advertising paid for by Canadian Aid Money) despite the “use of a condom” drive the Grenadian population by and large have a strange “denial” of their sexual history.  Like the English play NO SEX PLEASE BE A BRITISH – like other cultures Grenada has its Bois Bande and under the counter – guarantee to “sustain” an erection at a cost that is economic.  At carnival droves of Grenadian men “cross dress” and a great many of the Spice Island songs are not just about lyrically lustful pleasure some of the more popular songs promote sadism and young born again Christians mysteriously become pregnant – one is been flippant here.  Grenadians are over ninety percent Christians – sex is of the devil, the devil is a liar chat – sex should only take place within a marriage – the majority of Grenadian households are made up of women – Grenada’s history is of a matriarchal society.

The advent of Cable and satellite TV to Grenada expose the population to soft porn – explicit sex on demand music videos that are sexual to say the least and generally induces sex in all its forms to a people that are reluctant to openly discuss sex.

In the sixties the world experienced a sexual revolution.  It left Grenada “comforted” in its Victorian moral values – values that have long been eroded but hypocritically upheld by the state.  Now young Grenadians are pushing against a culture of sexual denial – a culture that prefers sexual issues to be kept in the “closet.”

In prudish Grenada there is a group of men called Men who like to have sex with men – there is a group of young people promoting sexual enjoyment – there is a loose group of Lesbians trying to force their issues into the public domain and would you believe it they are bisexual people in Grenada too.

The lesbians –dykes (they are all on display on the social network site hi5) are agitated because it is illegal for them or anyone else to import and sell sex toys – lesbians need their dildoes – strap on are popular and everyday good frustrated Christian women need their vibrators – undercover sales is very active.  It is difficult to understand Grenadian public response to sex – I have often been asked if I would like to have sex with women whom I have known over the years and some among their numbers have volunteered to be moms on my behalf – to put these offers in prospective I have been on the Spice Island since 1984 with various breaks.  Visitations from wife extended two to three years – England Canada when I am not on Island.  As far as Grenadians are concerned why should a man be alone – wife is not in Grenada – we don’t see you with a woman – you need a ting – you need to change your oil – let me put some “waist” on you.

One of the eccentricities of life in Grenada is the same prudish don’t talk about sex people – would as they say – have done in my case invite you to their church – there you would get a good church sister – a man like you they tell me should not be alone all this time.  They have no problem with me having a woman “on the side” – once she is a woman in the church.  Yet when it comes to dykes and gay men bible talk is the order of the day abomination and Leviticus.

I am not an advocate for the same sex population but why should the constitution the supreme law of the land guarantee equality for all but denies same sex people the right to have a sex shop and import sex toys to harness their sexual experience and be openly gay.

Sex, gay sex your kind of sex is personal and private.  If you like to have sex on the bonnet of a car or in a car as so many people do close to the Point-Saline International Airport or at the top of the hill overlooking BBC Beach then that is your choice.  Some people like to have sex tied up and beaten – is that natural others like people to look at them while they are having sex is that natural today’s young people practice fillatio open in schools public places and on buses – is that natural.  If people of the same sex choose to have sex with each other can we on the Spice Island continue to say gay sex is an abomination it’s not natural.  Should we engage the debate and the issues surrounding gay sex?  Or do we allow foreign countries by the use of their aid on which islands like Grenada depends drag us into acceptance of gay sex because we need roads, schools, IMF, World Bank, IDB, EU/EPA money.  Can I ask prudish Grenadians if gay sex is alien to the Spice Island Puritan Culture?  What is rubbing? (Two women having sex) What is bulling? (Two men having sex)  The word booming is also used loosely to describe transient sex.
