St. George’s – October 31st 2008: – Late Thursday afternoon, Karen Jo McIsaac – U.S Charge d’ affaires at the embassy in St. George’s, confirmed that Dr. Keith Mitchell is NOT a citizen of the United States of America.
The US diplomat spoke to George Grant from Grenada Broadcast. Ms McIsaac gave fuel to a political storm raging on the island over the citizenship of Dr Mitchell – Grenada s former Prime Minister, who is ‘defined’ by a host of unsavoury allegations while in office. The Americans on the face of it have walked into the centre of Grenada’s politics. › Continue reading
Dr. Keith Mitchell is a US citizen – The latest!!!
Tuesday, October 28th, 2008 | Cams | Comments Off
Following the Attorney General’s definitive statement on the Keith Mitchell US citizenship issue it has emerged that there is a mild difference of approach within the government in relations to how Mitchell should be pursued. Some argue Mitchell is a former prime minister and he should not be totally humiliated, others simply state that the law should take its course.
On the citizenship issue, the prevailing wind favors Parliamentary proceedings to arrest Mitchell’s skullduggery culture. It is a matter of time before he is forced to give up his parliamentary seat and face some kind of judicial process.
The straight forward option of going to court may be impeded by statute of limitation.
AS OF TUESDAY 28th OCTOBER
The news confirming the widely held suspicion that Dr Keith Mitchell is a citizen of the United States is shattering to the image and credibility of the former Prime Minister who has sought to distinguish himself above other politicians on the island—claming he is a scholar and states man of impeccable status. › Continue reading

October 26th – St. George’s GRENADA: I have been exposed to the ill conceived argument that Stanley Charles ‘deserves’ what he got. He interfered with the man – we know, you don’t interfere with politicians; he causes the man to ‘pressure’ everybody in the media. › Continue reading
One hundred days in office

The NDC has had its 100 days in office. A week in politics is a long time but in Grenada’s politics its not just coach in class but its pace is and has always been coached.
Grenada’s political history is defined by two ‘momentous’ periods. The politics of the 50s self rule – leading to independence by Eric Gairy, trade unionist/quasi preacher/nationalist politician. His labor party is largely ‘responsible’ for the birth of Grenada post British Empire rule. The other dramatically brought to Grenada a new kind of politics. A coup – the first of its kind in the English speaking Caribbean – led by Maurice Bishop his People’s Revolutionary Government introducing a form of socialism to the spice island. › Continue reading
Judicial Realities
Wednesday, October 15th, 2008 | Cams | Comments Off
Editors Note:
Recently Dr. Keith Mitchell, former prime minister of Grenada declared he would no longer be pursuing his libel case against Mr. George Worme of the Grenada Today’s newspaper.
Dr. Mitchell’s actions and his attitude towards the legal and judicial system has in effect ‘pole-axed’ the system and cause some people to perceive the judicial system in Grenada to be ‘tear’.
Stanley Charles has had his passport taken away by the court and for several years due to a charge of seditious libel instigated by Dr. Mitchell he has been unable to travel. The case has convieniently stalled while Stanley languishes at the State’s pleasure. He has not been able to travel to his wife’s mother’s funeral earlier this year. He has been black listed allegedly at the behest of the former Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Mitchell.
Stanley argues that his life is in a penurious state – he said it is somewhat ironic given Mitchell’s publicly derisive utterance towards the court that the former political strongman should now be alleging political meddling in legal matters.
Stanley is strange but can be brutally frank at times. He believes comments attributed to the Law Lords.. Suffering prejudice through the repeated adjournment of the various hearings and the undue delay in concluding them…… fits his case progress or lack of it.
Stanley now comments on his experience before the court which he says has diminished his confidence in the system of justice in Grenada.

Stanley comments on the collapse of the State’s case against him
It is not as some people may think a great relief for me that my case has been discontinued. This seditious charge against me was instigated by Dr. Keith Mitchell a most unsavory character whose tenure as prime minister of Grenada is distinguished by a series of inglorious allegations. › Continue reading

Stanley expresses concerns about proper journalistic practices
The following letter was received from Stanley Charles expressing concerns about good/positive editorial/journalistic practices. This letter raises the need for valuable and realistic guidelines and journalistic ethics, standards and code of conduct relating to the practice of journalism.
This letter can also open a debate concerning guidelines and style in the media.
I trust that all media colleagues, including those journalism students, can come together to discuss – dialogue – on the issues of professionalism within the scope of our profession as career journalists.
The text of the correspondence is as follows: › Continue reading
